    Hi,

I have a question regarding using your plugin. I have a task to migrate a website to wordpress. Problem is, I created wordpress on my hosting by changing hosts file on my desktop computer in notepad by editing file system32/drivers/etc.hosts by adding my hosting ip number in front of a website domain name. That way, only me from my computer can see my wordpress instalation.

If I install your plugin like that and try to migrate from live website visible to all other internet users, will it work. Question is actually is your plugin going to read from myhosts file ip or live internet website.

I hope it makes sense for you what am I asking. If you explain me how to achieve this kind of migration, I will have no other choice than to buy your premium version 🙂
I forgot to mention I dont know is it obvious but wordpress is on my hosting under same directory name as linux on the other hosting from which I am trying to migrate everything.

    It won’t work like that.
In your case, the problem is that the domain name is the same for the source and the target web site.
To work well, you must define (temporarily) your target site (WordPress) to have a different URL from the source site (either on another subdomain or on another directory).
If both sites are on different hostings, you must also copy the Joomla tables to the WordPress database.
And you must not change your hosts file.

Once the WordPress site is ready, you can change its URL easily with a plugin like WP Migrate DB.

How do I unsubscribe from this?
