    Hi
I want to move away from display widgets, as it was taken off etc.

Your widget looks just like display widget (DW), but I am not sure if I am using it correctly, as I cannot get it to work.

I want to use your Widget with a Widget Call Jquery Vertical Mega Menu on the side bar this widget activates the Menus that have been created under menus. http://www.designchemical.com/blog/index.php/category/jquery/

I think if I cannot get your widget to work, I would need to create several other menus, but I am not even sure if that will work.

I can see that it looks similar to DW.

In order for you to see what is going on. I am using a Staging Site the matches my live site. The Display Widget Plugin has been deactivated

I MATCHED the way that it the Display Widget plugin was set up on ONE page only as it uses the more check boxes and if this page does not work no pages will.

THIS is the Live site which is want I want it to look like on the side Menu Display Widget is activated.
    http://dnorwood.com/central-coast-homes/

This is the Staging Site – Display Widget is deactivated.
    http://norwood451wph.staging.wpengine.com/central-coast-homes/
it is set up to only show what I have checked to show per your widget (SHOW ON CHECKED PAGES) I am checking under Taxonomies the same Catagories that are on the live site example above.
    Arroyo Grande Real Estate
    Atascadero Real Estate
    Avila Beach
    … Paso Robles

However, As you can see on the Staging site that it shows ALL of my Categories as if it is not working at all

I also checked all of the boxes for the devices DESKTOP – TABLET – MOBIL (show on check devices)

Because your widget is not working you can see that ALL of the pages have exactly the same menus.
    Here are a few examples

If you would like to see a screen shop of the widget, please let me know where to send it.

Thank you for your for a quick response, as I need my staging site for other operations.

Thank you for your help. I hope you will be able to make your widget work on my site.

Are you planning on answering my question?

    Hi,

My apology for late response. I’ve actually viewed the staging and live site; and the sidebar widgets seems identical. Sorry if I assumed that you’ve already fixed the issue. Please do kindly post your screenshots here. You can also use the migration plugin I’ve created : https://widget-options.com/easily-migrate-display-widgets/ to move your Display Widgets saved preferences. Let me know how it goes. Thanks!

    Cheers,
    Jeffrey

Sorry, After a week, today I needed to use my staging site for another test/ updated to the new word press version.

However, all you really need to know is that when i check the boxes in exactly the same way as Display Wigets, nothing happens. The results are that All of of the sidebar menus are on the side. As if there is no plugin being used or the same as if the Display Widget was not active.

Anyway, if I use the Migration tool, do you think that will make it work? I am confused why it would matter.

    Hi,

You can open a support ticket here : https://phpbits.net/contact and include the staging website login info and will be very happy to check the widget options. There might be missed options that’s causing the issue and will be very happy to check it out. Thanks!

    Cheers,
    Jeffrey

Ok. I am tired now, and would need to make changes to log-in to provide that info. When would be a good time to provide that info to you- about this time?

Should I try your migration tool first?

Thank you for the Migration tool. It looks correct now. FYI: On the very tome Side menu the Migration did not match. I automatically check the box put in ALL POSTS.

Fortunately, it was only one menu item. Once I discovered it was wacky, the site matched the site that I had the Display Widgets on.

I am very happy that you created your plug-in

@norwood451 Sounds perfect! Could you send me the screenshot of that option? I’ll add the fix so that any other users that might have the same issue will get better migration process. Thanks!

Hi Jeff- I am not sure how to send you a screen shot with this format or contact format you provided. I can send if you let me know how.

However, it was only one of the side bar menus that was the very first entry– on top of all of the other side bar menus. I am not sure of the cause of the issue, but being that it was the only one affected and was the first entry, there is a possibility that being in he first entry may be the bug. I did confirm it was not the same as the Display Widget on my live site.

The results was that the menu in this side bar http://dnorwood.com/category/central-coast-land/ was on every post.

The solution was to remove the check box on the tab that was set that the menu to be on ALL posts. It took me a while to find the issue, but using deduction, and looking at the all of the possible entries (check boxes) I noticed a check box that should not have been checked. I know that ONLY one check box should have been checked, which was one category.

    Hi Jeff:
I discovered something odd, that you may want to know and can you tell me how to fix.

With DISPLAY Widgets, there were NO side menus on TAG pages because these pages were were not checked to have any side bar.

With WIDGET OPTIONS, EVERY MENU SIDEBAR is on the tagged pages.

There is no reason to have my search Real estate pages mixed up with my blog pages. However, I do not think there was an option to have the menus on the tagged pages AT ALL on with Display Widgets, so it is kind of a good thing.

I tried doing the Opposite from show on specified pages, which DID remove a menu. Arroyo Grande Real Estate, However, Arroyo Grande Real estate then does not show even though the check box is not checked.

    Staged post unchecked

Live Site post – CHECK BOX CHECKED like Display Widgets.

HOW do I remove the additional Menu below the blog and Blog Archive Menus?

    (@phpbits)

@norwood451 Try Visibility(eye icon) then Taxonomies then scroll down to the Taxonomies selection and check Tags. Let me know how it goes. Thanks!

    Thread Starter norwood451

    (@norwood451)

    Jeff.

THE EYE, is where I have all of the check boxes.
If I check the box TAGS, should it not Show on the tagged pages?

Per your request, I did check the box on Arroyo Grande Show on TAGS as you suggested. Arroyo Grande Real Estate is also checked, as it was and should be.

THIS IS CORRECT – I am Using Show On check boxes now.
    http://norwood451wph.staging.wpengine.com/arroyo-grande-homes/

THIS IS with the Arroyo Grande, TAGS check, which has the SAME affect as not checked.

The Menu Below Arroyo Grande, Pismo Beach is NOT check as you can see both are there and there is NO change CHECK OR NOT CHECKED.

There’s also an option on Misc tab, Archives. You can try that too and let me know how it goes. Thanks!

    (@norwood451)

I check the Archives, but nothing changed.

I think you may need to fix this.

I am ok with it for now, but if you have any other suggestions I am willing to try.
