I have a message from Google as follows:

A client or app token will now be required for querying all picture endpoints, including user pictures through public_profile. Queries without a token will return a generic silhouette as the user picture.

Does this mean that all Facebook avatars will disappear?

What do I need to do?

    Hi QSheeraz

I just got the following alert from Facebook:

Changes to token requirements will break your applications function

Action required: You need to generate a client or app token to access user pictures starting October 23, 2020 @ 10AM PDT. As part of Graph API v8.0, we’ve made changes to our token requirements. These changes will impact your app. A client or app token will now be required for querying all picture endpoints, including user pictures through public_profile. Queries without a token will return a generic silhouette as the user picture. If you still need access to user profile pictures, you need to generate a client or app token before these changes take effect on October 23, 2020 @ 10AM PDT. If you no longer need access to these picture endpoints, no action is required.

Does this mean that all Facebook avatars will disappear?

    Please advise urgently.

    Hi,

If you are getting user’s profile pictures with your Facebook App then you need Access Token to get other users pictures. For your own, you don’t need to worry.
If you are accessing other users or other users are using your Facebook App then you need to change your code.

    Regards

    Hi GenialSouls

I already has a client token. The question is what do I have to do this with this client token to make sure that all of the Facebook avatars will continue to be displayed on Facebook Comments in the WP Social Comments plugin and also other commenting plugins where Facebook Comments are imported?

    Hi,

For this plugin, you need nothing to do with your Facebook App. The change of token will not affect any functionality of this plugin.
As you can see, all avatars are there for comments.
This change is for developers. So no need to worry about.
If you need any additional help as a developer, you can contact us support[at]genialsouls[dot]com and we will gladly help you.

    Regards
