Support » Plugin: Edit Author Slug » What happens when i delete the plugin?

  • Hello,

I love this plugin and it does the job.
I’m just clearing out my plugins on a site that has a bunch of them and I want to see if I can speed it up a bit by disabling/deleting some plugins.

What exactly happens when I delete Edit Author Slug plugin?
Do slugs go back to default? Do links reverse too?
Or is it just safe to delete it after I make the changes?

    Thank you

Links will revert, but author slug changes will not.

If you change the author base to test and the admin user’s slug to awesome-admin, the resulting URL would be

After deactivating the plugin, the admin user’s URL will not be

So if I install the plugin, I’m stuck with it?

I guess so? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I have no clue how you’re using the plugin, so I can’t say whether or not you’re “stuck with it.” If you want a customized author base, then you have to have some sort of code (whether it’s Edit Author Slug or something else) running on every front-end page load, at a minimum, to make that happen. That’s how WordPress works.

You are always free to remove the plugin and use the default author links.
