    Hi guys,
I have been reading some of posts on the support forum and there are many suggestions to make changes to .php .css files etc.

What happens when you update the plugin? Are these changes lost?

The theme I am using comes with an inbuilt Child Theme. Does this help?

I experimented with the Plugin on a test site some time ago and you were kind enough to change some settings to get it working with my theme. I have installed it again (on what will be the live site) with the intention of moving forward but of course I had to copy the files you changed over to the new site. I don't want to have to do this if the plugin is updated.

Sorry I am not a programmer or an expert on WordPress.

If we have provided solution for a bug then it will be available in our next version. If we have provided solution for custom changes asked by the particular client, then it will not be available in our package. So you need to take back up of the changes and apply manually again. Let me know what kind of changes you are referring now. So that I can check and let you know whether it is a issue or custom changes.

I have no idea if it was a bug or not - it just didn't work with my theme. (The category headings were not showing). When I asked what they changed I was told to compare the original file with the one they changed on the server. (I could not see what they had changed, I have no way of comparing lines of code in two documents).
An example would be your answer to my other post about categories and widgets. http://wordpress.org/support/topic/how-do-i-get-the-video-gallery-to-display-in-a-widget?replies=7

If I make those changes will they all be lost when you upgrade the Plugin ?

As I have explained in the post http://wordpress.org/support/topic/how-do-i-get-the-video-gallery-to-display-in-a-widget?replies=7#post-5703082 the category widget feature will be available in our next version. So if you make changes, then you will not lost when you upgrade our next version.
