What happened to tags like: get_content_media, get_embedded_video, etc.?

    What ever happened to tags like: get_content_media, get_embedded_video, etc.? They appear to have been used in a version of beta earlier this year, but were mysteriously removed. You can see a list of them at the bottom of this WordPress Codex Page.

    And they are part of this list of removed items.

    It would be very useful to be able to pull out, say the first video that’s (O)embedded in a post and display it outside of the content area, so tags like that will be very useful. Now you have to use custom fields for video for example if you want to display the video outside of the content area, which I hate as custom fields don’t exist in the WordPress iPhone app for example.

    What happened was that part of the project was removed. It was a great addition but at the moment I believe it lives as a plugin.

    From what I can recall, Justin Tadlock’s hybrid core does something fairly close to that so you may want to take a quick glance at his stuff. ( Awesome code and documentation he provides )
