what forum software is used at wordpress.org

I’m looking for good forum software that integrates well with WordPress. I’ve been playing with phpBB – not bad, but difficult to customize compared to WordPress. So I figured maybe I should try the same forum software used here at wordpress.org since it obviously integrates and it has a nice look.

But if you want something that is integrated within wordpress, you might consider xdforum http://www.xdweb.net/xdforum

It certainly is a nice, clean forum software. Would use it myself next time I need a forum. phpBB, UBB and similar have become a bit too information-heavy.

I’m really happy with bbPress and plan to integrate it into the rest of my WordPress site in the next week or so. Helpful listserv email came in last week that will help with that.
