  • I’m seeing a few WP files getting a huge amount of traffic, more than most URLs in this site. Here are the first few lines of stats:

Total: 5070 different pages-url Viewed Average size

    /wp/wp-admin/admin-ajax.php 940 27 Bytes
    /wp/wp-admin/index-extra.php 771 1.69 KB

    /wp/wp-includes/js/list-manipulation-js.php 164 8.69 KB
    /archives 162 285.36 KB
    … etc

It’s a little tough to read, but basically the front page is being viewed 71799 times, mydomain.xml is being viewed 2580 times, admin-ajax.php 940 times, etc… What’s up with tiny_mce_config.php? dbx-admin-key-js.php? Are these stats normal? Is something weird happening?

All that stuff in wp-admin is your admin pages. So is a lot of the wp-includes stuff. It loads a lot of javascript to make all those features work. Perfectly normal.

what do the stats mean in real terms? i am part of a multiuser blog, i am the administrator of the blog. there are two other blog administrators and there is a bunch of people who can write a post (editors) and all others can’t. the blog is hosted by the top level administrator. the top level administrator has installed the blog stats. when i check the blog stats which brings me to my personal global dashboard, it says: “Just a note: we don’t count your own visits to your blog.* what does that mean exactly? only my visits or all visits from the people who can write posts on our blog?! thx.
also what does a visit exactly mean, how is it measured.
