What do I do with the retired theme?

    I am working on a site that uses a WooTheme which is recently retired. So is it safe to ditch that theme and find an alternative for moving forward to future WP versions? I am not sure if that theme will still function in WP 4.4.*. It will probably have no issues right now. I am wondering if I should just build a custom theme so that this kind of issue can be avoided in the future.
