I just downloaded WordPress on to my computer and I am very confused about what to do now. How do I start making my site exactly? What did I just download in the first place? I don’t get it. Need some assistance please!

Thanks! (I’m clearly no good at this sort of thing and this is my first attempt at a website so sorry if this question is really dumb which I’m sure it is.)

Do you have a hosting account somewhere? You’ll need to set up a database, edit the wp-config-sample.php file to reflect the database details, and upload the WordPress folder contents to your host via an FTP client. Once that’s done, you just visit the URL that you installed it to and follow the on-screen directions 🙂

Don’t worry, read the Codex. If you have GoDaddy hosting, the one good thing about them is that they have an app that makes installing it on your site really easy. If not – to the codex.

There are also many people out there in cyberland that offer free WordPress installation services 🙂
