    I’m still playing around with WP 1.2 & still haven’t upgraded. 😉 Can anyone
   tell me what are custom fields in the Write Screen & why are they there? These
   have been introduced in v1.2 & weren’t there before.

 * They are an extra field attached to a post that allows you to do special things
   with individual posts or groups of posts. For example, you can use them to highlight
   certain posts, to attach images to certain posts, to make some posts sticky, 
   to make some posts disappear etc. The first two options can be done with the 
   existing built in functions. The second two need further scripting, one of which
   is my select_custom_fields.php plugin which you can see at
