I am trying to migrate a live site to a destination URL that is not live yet. I want to be able to proof the relocated site before switching DNS. Both servers run cPanel and I have tried the cPanel and FTP options.

What can I use for the destination URL? In my configuration, http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/~cpaneluser is not permitted. The ip address does not work. Can I use the FQDN of my server? Surely there is some workaround. Since the form requested the IP of the destination server, I had hoped that might work.

    Hi,

You can try with FQDN of the server. Another alternative is to use the actual url but override the hosts file setting.

    That can work too.

    Thanks,
    Akshat
