• I developed some maps manually using the leaflet library. With that experience I appreciate even more the functionality of this plugin. It’s easy, it’s fast, and it works!

It would be even greater if it allowed to show not only markers but also GPS-Tracks. Feature that is announced for the pro version.

I’m hoping that this will get out soon – for shure I will buy it the same day it’s released!

Thank you and keep on! Great job!

  • thanks for your review!

gps tracks are planned for second or third version of the pro plugin. I hope to release v1.0 by the end of the year or more realistic in q1/2013 – I’d love to be faster, but as I very much focus on quality it takes more time than planned. Also the integration of the payment service provider and the business automation software spbas.com for software licensing is quite complex and takes its time – please be patient!

You’re doing well releasing new versions when they work, so take your time.

For more precision: I wouldn’t ever want to plug my GPS-device to mapsmarker and post the tracks directly. Neither would I need the possibility to do it from the frontend. (Even if this would give great possibilities to collect data from a usergroup 😉

I would be happy if it was possible to convert a GPS-Track in GeoJson (or KML or whatever) and to put it as a new layer on the map … is that this difficult to realize?

adding tracks directly sounds great – just not sure if this could work. havent looked into gpx feature yet in detail as I have to build the basic pro framework first. There is a leaflet-plugin anway which allows direct display of gpx-files without converting: https://github.com/shramov/leaflet-plugins/blob/master/layer/vector/GPX.js – I think I will use this one for the pro version

I tried the leaflet plugin you mentioned and it works. For shure, being able to implement GPX-data would be nice, since converting GPX to GeoJson requires additional GIS-Software (QGIS is opensource, though) and an additional step.

On the other hand, leaflet gives native support for GeoJson Layers without having to implement plugins.

Couldn’t this be an attempt? New layer, upload GeoJson, and the line is on the map.

No idea of programming wordpress plugins. But in Leaflet, that’s a line of code …

the plan is to support both for the pro version: GPX will be supported first by using the leaflet-plugin. GeoJSON-Support will come later – I havent added this feature yet as I didnt know yet how to best save the GeoJSON-array – but I guess I will upload it to the wordpress media-page (another OSM plugin works like this with routes).
