Our .org organization is using PMPro and Woocommerce integration to sell memberships as a product (and using that to get discounts on other products in future). How do I set up a welcome email to be sent to purchasers of these membership products? Right now, they are getting the standard Woo order completed email, but we’d like to send a separate email for the memberships. I am a coder, can I add a snippet to leverage a hook to force send the existing “Checkout – Paid” email template upon completion of the Woocommerce checkout? Thanks for any help. Linda

  • Looking for the same solution. Testing my memberships sold through Woocommerce and don’t get the welcome email, although the membership appears enabled for the customer.

Expiration emails work but the welcome email is not triggered by the purchase through Woocommerce. There’s no way to trigger it manually either.

Really need to solve this, thanks in advance for any help.

    Hi Linda and @lamayas,

Thank you for reaching out to Paid Memberships Pro.

I’ve passed this onto our development team to consider in a future release but I do not have any timeframe or guarantee this will be fulfilled.

Here is a guide on how to send the Checkout Email whenever an admin changes a user’s membership level (and can be tweaked to trigger on any level change in any instance) – https://www.paidmembershipspro.com/send-members-a-confirmation-email-when-admins-change-their-membership-level/

Thank you for understanding, please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any further questions.

    Hi Andrew,

I appreciate your reply but I can’t really see the article, it requires a premium membership to your site.

I did saw the option to send an email when changing the level of a user manually, but by purchasing the woocommerce product they already have the necessary level assigned so I don’t see how that’s an option.

The woocommerce option is really helpful to include other payment gateways, but without the welcome email it seems like an incomplete integration to me, because if you’re only using woocommerce to sell them (like in my case), you can’t really send customers an email about the membership.

Could you explain how to trigger it manually or through a hook? Considering that the user already has the membership enabled through the purchase.

    Thanks.

Thanks for your patience, here is the code snippet – https://gist.github.com/ideadude/135b29b47ebf04c3d094773625ff4707#file-my_send_pmpro_confirmation_emails_from_dashboard-php

I have added this request to our development schedule to include in our WooCommerce Integration.

    Awesome!! Thank you so much.

One quick final question, the email would be sent when I change the membership level manually, right? But by purchasing the product associated to the membership they already have that level assigned. I guess I can unlink the product and then assign the membership manually to send the email. Just wanted to confirm that.

    Thanks again.

There is an option to send an email when you manually edit a user’s profile and change their membership level.

This is the “Admin Changed” email template that is sent out.
