    I tried to comment using normal user, but I am not able to replicate the issue.

    Is it possible for you to record a video demonstrating the issue?

    it is only when a normal users uses the comment.

    so if an admin comments, it works, but for non admin, it gives the code i posted. It even adds the caracters typed to search for the username up untill the username in the dropdown is chosen (clicked)

    so when a normal user goes on the forum and mentions someone else

    The video I shared above, I showed mentioning user by subscriber user only. Issue you reported is not happening on my side.

    That is why I asked, if you could share your settings in the backend that might help me to fix this.

    OK, i recorded.
    The BadBert user is admin, the Peerke is not
    My site is in dutch…. so “beheerder” is admin (BadBert), “deelnemer” is not (Peerke)

    i know it is in two different browsers, but i already tested using the same browser and that gives me the same results, but this is hard to record in a nice way because i can only log in with one user per browser.
    But i can assure you, even using the same browser it gives me the same difference

    As an admin i edit all the posts by the users who used the comment mention, when i edit, it is fine.
