    Hi,

so far the Cleantalk Antispam plugin works well in preventing spam, however when it’s activated I have weird characters appearing instead of the ones that should be in their place.

For example, the phrase “here’s what’s new” appears as: Here’s what’s new.
Also, umlaut characters like ä and ö aren’t displayed correctly.

I’m guessing this is a character encoding problem? How can I change this behavior?

    Thanks!

    Hello,

    Thank you for your request.

Please, disable the option “Capture buffer” in plugin’s settings.

    Did it help?

    Hi,
yes, it worked indeed. My CSS also looks like it should again. Thanks so much for your help! Does deactivating capture buffer have any downsides for spam protection?

No, there should be any issues.

If missed spam appears, just let us know.

    Thank you.

    Hi again,

after a few hours without the capture buffer, I can see spam email signups coming in that Cleantalk missed. Neither the spam email nor the IP was caught in the logs (I checked the addresses manually to confirm they were spam).

Is there another setting I can try?
