• I’ve noticed that it’s possible to specificate the weight for title and content, but what happens if I activate also taxonomies? I want to include the post tags into my search, and also I want that the weight for tags is greater than for the content (but less than title). How can I do this?

You won’t be able to do it with the plugin. If you enable searching through the tags, then it will also find posts that have a tags that match the search term.

I see. I’m just considering that it could be a useful feature for future updates on this plugin. The same that you can specify the weight for title and contents, it will be useful to have the same for categories and tags. I’m already including tag in this plugin searches and it works nicely, but I wishes that coincident text in tags could be more relevant when returning the results.

    Thanks

I’ve thought about this but am unsure how to fit that in with the weight. The current weightage is based on what is sent to the MySQL FULLTEXT matching scores which creates the weight. However, the tags are a simple LIKE based with no weightage on their own.

I’m not sure about if you have got the idea. The issue is that, there is for example a post with any title, any text on body and the tag “dog”. If i use the search for the word “dog” and there is a post that into the body doesn’t have the word “dog” BUT have the tag “dog”, I want that this post have more priority into the results that another one that only have the word “dog” into the body but NOT into the tags.

I think I understand. I need to think about how I can make that work. Right now the sorting is via relevance which is calculated my mySQL. I’ll do some research to see how I can redo the sorting based on what you said.
