Wedding Website Guest Contributions: Post Comments vs Forum Thread?

Hi there, this is my first post on WordPress. I am considering putting together a website for my upcoming wedding. The idea is that it will have important information for invited guests. I would like a gallery to which guests can upload photos of the day, and before the event I would like somewhere where guests can start and contribute to threads that will include humour, poems, songs, etc. The site will be a keepsake after the event, and a way to orientate people for the event.

So the question is, which would be more suitable for the guests contributions? Should I start comment threads with posts such as ‘please post here any poems or literary quotations’ – in the blog post comments section – or would a forum be better? Or is there another way? Perhaps a way to make blog post comments behave in a customised way, suitable for this use?

I’d use a forum, so each poem can be a forum topic and people can comment on it.
