 * I’m using wordpress 4.6, and I’m trying to find the ‘website verification services’
   function under ‘Tools’, but it doesn’t seem to exist? Is it elsewhere in the 
   site?

 * If you mean for things like Google Webmaster Tools, you do that through a plugin
   if you don’t want to upload the suggested HTML file. You can use Yoast SEO or
   Jetpack to add verification meta in the header.

   there’s a function under tools on the dashboard called website verification services?
