• I have not upgraded to the new WordPress version yet, but noticed when attempting to log on, I receive an internal error 500 error. Cannot log in from admin site nor can I locate the .htaccess file. Any suggestions. GoDaddy that host the site cannot locate file either and this is the error message:

[Fri May 01 05:38:33.827819 2015] [core:alert] [pid 22321:tid 140177240426240] [client 76.4.12.11:17954] /home/bfairfax7/public_html/.htaccess: Invalid command ‘R#’, perhaps misspelled or defined by a module not included in the server configuration

    Thanks for your assistance!

  • if you cant locate the file , then create a blank one. then resave wordpress permalinks.

Did this happen out of the blue? Did you change something recently?

Are you using a caching plugin on your site? I experienced the 500 error earlier today as well and after deactivating the plugins, I was able to re-access my site. You could try deactivating them all and assuming you can get back in, you can then narrow it down one by one.

Also agree with @laliz. I would definitely re-create your .htaccess file if you cannot find it and re-save your permalinks.

    Hope this helps!
