# Website translation

 * Hi could you please tell me the best way to translate my website?
    For now everything
   in my website is in English but I would like to have a French version. I will
   do the translation by myself as I speak French.

 * The best way to translate the site would be to translate the theme’s translatable
   strings manually.
 * To translate the translatable strings of the theme in your language you will 
   need to create .mo file with french translation.
 * To create .mo file with **POedit software:**
    1) Download poedit software([http://www.poedit.net/download.php](http://www.poedit.net/download.php)),
 * 2) Open the software, From welcome screem choose to create pot file to translate
   translation ready strings from the theme.
 * 3) You can now see a list of all translatable strings from the theme, select 
   a string and choose “create new translation” option in source text tab.
 * 4) Choose your desired language and type in translation for individual source
   text. you can also select one of the translation suggestions given by the software.
 * 5) Save the created .mo file into your **theme folder/languages.**
 * Finally, you can select your translated language from your** dashboard > settings
   > general settings > site language**. and save changes.
 * Also, you can also post in any future queries in the theme’s official support

 * You will be able to add a french version of your WordPress site in a few clicks
   and be able to edit your translations yourself.

 * Hi!
 * Thanks for your help, I have an issue with both solutions.
 * For the first solution I did download POedit but I can’t find my active theme
   folder. I have the folders of my theme which are not active but not the one of
   my active theme. Do you know how I can manage that?
 * For the second solution I did download the plugin but I can’t activate it, I 
   got the following error message:
    “Plugin could not be activated because it triggered
   a fatal error. Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in /home/exportpl/
   public_html/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/scrybs-translation/inc/simple_html_dom.
   php on line 40″

 * You can find your active theme folder on
 * **your root directory/wp-content/themes/wen-business**
 * Note: Your root directory is the directory where you have kept WordPress files
   and folders.
