 * Been having trouble with my page speed the last few days. It takes around 5 second
for my website to even start to load. Even though I use Cloudflare CDN I seem
to have a slow site. After trying almost everything, I contacted my hosting provider,
HostGator. The live chat guy said he would request a reboot of the server. This
however hasn’t happened because I received this reply by email:
 * In reviewing the site, I am seeing that the largest issue in your site’s speed
is that the site has multiple requests which are attempting to refresh the content
despite the caching being in place. In effect, this element of your combination
of theme and plugins is rendering the caching ineffective. You can review this
using the waterfall section at the following URL

 * The issue is the amount of time that the front page is taking to long to generate,
along with other resources. You need to improve your page design so that static
caching will actually work as static caching, and push everything that you can
   to be precached by CloudFlare.
 * So my questions are: does it look as if HostGator are correct and if so what
   do I do?
 * The page I need help with: _[[log in](https://login.wordpress.org/?redirect_to=https%3A%2F%2Fwordpress.org%2Fsupport%2Ftopic%2Fwebsite-speed-static-caching-issue%2F%3Foutput_format%3Dmd&locale=en_US)
   to see the link]_

 * Even before anything on your page it loading, it seems it’s taking 5 seconds
to connect. This is probably the cloudflare caching.
 * Strip out anything you don’t need from the site. There are a few resources that
are taking 3/4 seconds to load.
 * That said though, loading the site in the browser from the UK was pretty snappy.

 * Thanks for your time [@graphicscove](https://wordpress.org/support/users/graphicscove/)
 * I’ve stripped out what I don’t need on my site already. It seems ajax is taking
about 4 or 5 seconds to load. Surely my site should be connecting faster initially.
Well, that’s what I want anyway.
