• I’m on the verge of giving up on my website as it’s so slow to load since I switch to .org last year despite far less content. I’ve swapped themes to one that’s got rave reviews to see if that resolved the issue, I’ve disabled most plugins after doing the plugin profiler test. It now says the plugins should still have it loading within a second. I keep getting Jetpack site is down alerts.
I switched hosts from GoDaddy managed hosting to InMotion to see if that helped, but since switching now all I get is at least 10 Jetpack site is down alerts a day – when at least I wasn’t getting those before (just 14 second load times if I was lucky).
    What am I doing wrong?
I’ve totally given up on linking it to the mobile app for posts, as I now can’t link at all since moving to InMotion, and before I could link to it, but any changes I made on the mobile app, or new posts never ever appeared on the site, nor even on Dashboard – they just vanished.
Should I just start again? I’ve got about 30 posts from the past 6 months waiting to upload, but I don’t want to add any more content until this is resolved.
    ETA: site is http://www.lifeisshortchallenge.com

    1. Please provide a link to a page on your site where we can see this. Thanks.

    2. What sort of numbers do you have for traffic on this site?

It’s every page of my site including homepage – http://www.lifeisshortchallenge.com
Barely any visitors. Back on wordpress.com I was getting about 10 a day – now I’m getting just me. 17 sessions a day is the highest google analytics is showing and that’s sessions not visitors.

I see you’re using wp super cache. Try adding the plugin “autoptimize” as it will reduce the number of fetches necessary to build out your page.

Thanks that has sped it up a little.
I’m getting Error 403 though on the Jetpack query, so it’s still going down. The InMotion hosting people did something to stop brute force attacks and now I can’t get the iOS app to work or do the xmlrpc.php query.

They probably dropped a block on access to xmlrpc.php, which will break the iOS app. I don’t trust the Jetpack queries — if YOU check the site, is it down? You might also check it via uptimerobot.com

Looking at your site, though, it doesn’t appear that you’ve activated any of the features of autoptimize. Did you go to its settings page? If so, clear WP Super Cache’s cache to it picks up the changes.

Nine seconds load time per pingdom. Life is too short for that challenge (sorry for the pun – I really like the domain name). I might try … a different host (buyshared.net is fast and *really* cheap); disable jetpack; smush images (>50% of content); CloudFlare free tier with “cache everything” page rule; a different caching plugin (Comet Cache works great for me).

I’ve done more changes and deleted plugins, but still it’s slow and keeps getting outages. I hate wordpress.org!
