Website Shows Up As Blank Pages

  • Hello,

I was logged into my wordpress site today, making some basic changes, when all of a sudden my browser looked like it froze. I shift + refreshed to clear the cache but all the links on my site are black pages.

I used isitdownroghtnow to see if it was an issue on my end or a sever issue. I cant even get to to wp-admin page. Also there are no error pages, just blank.

    Any ideas?

  • It sounds like the changes you made broke something. You need to try to revert those changes if possible. If you cannot access the admin, you’ll need to do it via FTP.

You should be able to find out exactly what’s causing the problem by enabling debug and viewing the resulting log file.

Well now, it says that there was an “Error establishing a database connection”. Not to sound stupid, but I need to contact my hosting provider, right?

Yep, that would be a good first step.

You’ll want to make sure that the appropriate database exists and is reachable and you’ll want to make sure your wp-config.php file has the correct information (username, password, database name) to access said database.

But yes, check with your host as well and make sure it isn’t something on their end.

    Thank you much everyone.

The problem was that I accidentally deleted the ‘wp-cache’ plugin. Some one did a fresh reinstall and i was able to move the files from that plugin subdirectory to the new one.
