• Hi Guys

I’m in desperate need of some help.

The guy who was hosting my site just shut down, no word of warning.
Long story, but all I managed to get back of my site is the site folder off the sever.
It contains thousands of php files and I have no idea how to rescue my content.

    Please help

  • Hi,

If it’s a WordPress site, the content is in the database, not the php files.

Unless you have access to your web server to get an export of your database, you will not be able to get any content back.

    Thank you.

A friend of mine was able to copy and send me my website folder off the server…
    That’s all I have.
I can’t view my website online and
I can’t even access my wordpress account.

The folder contains images which were on the website. Does that mean there is some content in this folder? Or as you said, the content is still on the server?

Excuse me, I know absolutely nothing about this stuff

    Hi,

The content I mention is referring to anything that you write or insert in WordPress content editor. They are saved in the database.

Unless, you got a database export file or WordPress export xml file, you are not going to get those content back.

    Thank you.

You may be able to recover some of your html page content through the web archive. This will provide you with some bricks to start a site rebuild, but as @denzil Chia points out, the database is the most important backup as it contains all your text/styles/settings
