    Hello,

    I have two questions:

    1. What is the added value of TranslatePress over manually translating our pages, from a SEO perspective? We want to translate our pages manually anyway, so just wondered what would be the difference.

    2. When we activate the Translatepress plugin, our website immediately become unavailable (i.e. pages do not open). What’s up with that?

    Cheers,

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hi,

We have the same problem as your second question but support will tell you their standard answer with deactivation your plugins. I don’t get an answer anymore after I did this and informed them.

With us, it seems it is related to the network we are on. We our website goes offline and we pick another network or make a hotspot with our phone the website works again but after a while also this network gives the same problem. What happens when you connect to another network while your website is offline?

    Greetings

    Hello @wbrooseboom,

The translations made with TranslatePress are string based, so those are saved string by string in your database. We don’t create new pages, but every existing page in your site will have a “translated version”, even if its strings are translated or not.
We don’t recommend creating different versions for the same page as that will go against our plugin’s solution and you will end up with a lot of additional content in the database.

TP is focused on a visual front-end translation approach, which is fast and gives you context.
In WPML/other translation plugins/adding pages manually, on the other hand, the translation happens on the backend, in multiple places, so translating everything that is displayed on a page can be challenging.
Also, unlike WPML/other translation plugins, TranslatePress works out of the box with any theme or plugin, without having to add extra compatibility.
As for hreflang, we already generate those based on the languages defined in TranslatePress.
Also TranslatePress is compatible with SEO plugins like Yoast or Rank Math and those will properly generate the canonicals and the sitemap for your site.

Regarding the second problem, can you send us a picture with the problem you are facing? We are not sure what it might be if we can’t at least see it.

    Best regards,
    Cristian

    Hello @rwonnink,

Can you link us the ticket you opened regarding this issue, or can you send us a pre-sale question regarding your problem mentioning as many details as you can about it? We will try to look into it to see exactly what is your situation.

    Best regards,
    Cristian
