[Resolved] Website Hacked?

  • In the last 24 hours my website (www.baththeatreschool.com) is now being redirected to a ‘related search’ page … I assume this is a hack? I can’t get into either wpadmin or cpanel areas … I assume this is a form of hack? The emails are also down!

I have the latest WordPress version, use only trusted plugins (inc one which bans IP’s after 4 log in attempts) and have an obscure wp-admin user name and password … therefore confused how someone could hack in. I did however receive an email 2 days ago saying that an IP had been baneed due to it attempting too many log ins.

Major problem is when trying to access the wpadmin and server log in, I also get redirected … so I have no access.

    Any ideas on:
    1. How to correct the problem, and
    2. How this was done?

    Thanks

  • Have you contacted your host?

Yes first thing this morning … sadly no reply.

Is this a hack or a redirect problem? Has anyone had this happen to them and if so what needs correcting?

Probably you did not renew your domain registration in time. A who is search shows:

    Registered On April 26, 2012
    Updated On April 28, 2013

That means you updated after the expiry date. So, please contact your host, as you may perhaps need to set your DNS right.

Thank you for your help … I did look at this but I read the whois report as being ok for another year … but the gap in renewal seems to have caused the problem.

Much better than a hack! Thanks again for your help.

    Welcome! 🙂
