My site has been hacked. They changed cpanel password, so I have new one to access. I have never experienced, this before and 100% sure how to restore my site. I have back up from a few weeks back, but have newer content since then. so would like to repair if possible? my files all seem in their correct place. anyone know what I should look for? Thanks

Hi.. You say you have backed up your files? You can use your ftp and access your files and delete them. After that, repplace the file you have backed up.

Unfortunately, it's not as simple as that -- as you need to remove all the bad code AND be sure there are no places where the hackers can get in again. See these:

These links can confirm that the site IS truly hacked.

When you've successfully deloused your installation consider hardening it.

I just scanned, it says nothing to scan, site empty. Does that mean everything is gone?

On your site, I see a page the hacker left behind "Hacked by..." If they deleted theme files and/or your database, yes, it's probably gone. But you should contact your host -- maybe they have a more recent back-up and/or can help you deal with this.

You have called your host and asked them to recover your site from backup?

If after this episode you find that your host simply does not maintain regular backups I strongly urge you to leave your current host.

It is borderline criminal for a host to not retain daily and weekly backups of all accounts. There are plenty of hosts out there who have enough respect for their customers to ensure they maintain daily and weekly backups. Having been in a middle of a few server failure events I can tell you horror stories that would make your hair stand up on end.

    - The true definition of a bad web host:
A bad web host is a host without regular backups available for their customers (free of charge).

Ask your host the following to see whether they deserve your business:
"If my site was hacked yesterday, will you recover my site from backup free of charge today?"

The best web hosts provide free daily and weekly backups as well as free daily malware scanning
