# Website gone

 * Good evening,
    I have a WordPress website and when you type in the url and go
   to the page, it is gone. It has been replaced with an error message:
 * Warning: Unexpected character in input: ”’ (ASCII=39) state=1 in /home/content/
   p/s/t/pstrachocki3/html/index.php on line 17
 * Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘.’ in /home/content/p/s/t/pstrachocki3/
   html/index.php on line 17
 * Does anyone have any ideas?

 * I would, but I don’t have a directory as above, and I have found a bunch of index.
   php files. Anu ideas?

 * you automatically land here when you ftp into your web space (sorry I should 
   have explained this):
 * **/home/content/p/s/t/pstrachocki3**
 * you should see an html directory, navigate into there, open the index.php, and
   copy and paste the contents for us to see.

 * No HTML directory.
    When I FTP in, the directories are:
 * php_uploads
    stats wp-admin wp-content wp-includes
 * None have a sun directory named html.

 * ok, then you drop into /home/content/p/s/t/pstrachocki3/html
 * whats inside the index.php ?
 * (BTW, thats a very inconvenient setup you have there. Seemsingly your host doesnt
   provide you any access to an area thats **not** web-accessible.)

    The only directories I have are php_uploads stats wp-admin wp-content 
   wp-includes
 * And none of them have a directory of html or content in them

 * if this makes it any clearer. that wp-content directory you see is actually here:
 * /home/content/p/s/t/pstrachocki3/html/wp-content/
 * you dont know it .. but that is the FULL path.
 * remember we are looking for this:
 * /home/content/p/s/t/pstrachocki3/html/index.php
 * its the index.php that is in the SAME directory as your wp-config.php
 * I cannot make this any clearer. if you cant find the file, then step back, take
   a smoke break or whatever, then come back, re-read what I wrote and try again.
 * Taking breaks helps, and decreases the odds that you panic.
