website down after changes to functions.php

    – do you have a good backup of this file taken before you made changes? Yes? try uploading it.

    – or, upload a fresh copy of functions.php file from a fresh download of your theme.

    – alternately, ask you host host if they have a backup of your site taken prior to you made changes. If they do, ask them to restore your site with it.

    Tara, thanks. No I did not make backup…
    I need some guidance on how to upload the file – I very new to this.
    I guess I have to do this via psftp. Can you help with the syntax??

    use FTP , or your web-host’s cPanel or whatever file management application your host provides.

    I would suggest downloading a fresh copy of your theme and uploading its functions.php to your server as a replacement of the file that you changed.
