Have you done this already? Have you contacted your hosting provider?

    Hello @everpretty1!

During the update process, WordPress downloads necessary update files to your server, extract them and then install the update. WordPress also puts your site on maintenance mode and displays the “Briefly unavailable for scheduled maintenance. Check back in a minute.” notice during the process.

To trigger the maintenance mode notification, WordPress creates a temporary .maintenance file in your website’s root folder.

If everything works normally, then this notice will probably be displayed for only a few seconds. After the successful update, WordPress will automatically delete the maintenance file to disable maintenance mode.

However, sometimes due to a low memory issue, the update script will timeout, thus interrupting the process. When this happens, WordPress does not get a chance to take your site out of maintenance mode.

In other words, your site will continue showing the maintenance mode notice, and you will need to manually fix it.

Check this guide below which you may use to solve this issue!

    @diegoalv That’s not WordPress’s maintenance screen: https://d.pr/i/J0WL0s

WordPress’s maintenance screen looks like this: https://d.pr/i/Rg9tC0

@everpretty1 That “Site Current Unavailable” screen appears to be coming directly from your hosting provider, so you should contact their support about this.

@macmanx Hi, thank you for your kind reply.
Can you see who is the hosting provider of our website?

No, since you’re using Cloudflare as a reverse proxy.

Your hosting provider is whomever you pay monthly or annually to keep your site online.

The blog subdomain actually returns a Google Cloud IP address.

But, then again, it’s impossible for us to tell if GCP is the direct host, or if it’s a 3rd-party host using Google Cloud infrastructure.

    Thanks for catching that, George!

    Ladies and Gentlemen,

I recognize that screenshot. The hosting provider is SiteGround. They use Google Cloud for their hosting services.

Just now, I checked the above site and it’s still down (503 Service Unavailable Error).

In this case, the 503 Error is most likely being triggered by one of the following:

    1. CPU Limits Exceeded
    2. Malware or Virus Detected
    3. DDoS Attack

Once the site owner contacts SiteGround Support, they will provide the owner with instructions to recover the site.

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers!
