Webpage embed shows in gutenberg after plugin is deactivated

    Webpage embed shows in Gutenberg editor after the plugin is deactivated. If it’s a new webpage link, it won’t show a webpage card, but if is a webpage link that was used while the plugin was activated, a webpage card will continue to show in Gutenberg editor.

    Reproduce:

    1. Install this plugin and activate
    2. Make a new post and post a website link. (A Washington Times article) You will get a webpage card view.
    3. Disable the plugin.
    4. Make a new post and use same website link in step 2.

    Result: A webpage card is shown.

    Expected: Since the plugin is deactivated, it should return to normal Gutenberg behavior and not show a webpage card.

    Hello @macksix. Thank you for reporting the issue!

    I have just released an update (version 1.2.1) which will fix the problem. Upon plugin deactivation, now cached results will be cleared to avoid the above issue. So when you try to use the same URL again after the plugin is deactivated, it will not show the previous result.

    However, the existing webpage embeds will still there unless you decide to update the post/page.
