WebHost server infected?

    On 19th Feb, I fixed the site as it kept crashing then I backed up and downloaded files from file manager in my cpanel to my pc that were infected with viruses. There were 15 in total 6 of which were quarantined, the rest were unable to be cleaned/removed. Unsure if site is hacked.

    Does this mean that the server that I downloaded the files from is also infected?

    Not necessarily, but you should let your hosts support group know what you encountered. Especially if you are in a shared environment.

    There is some great reference material designed to help in these situations. Some of the steps mentioned might be something you haven’t already thought of, and there are links to additional resources as well.
