    Hello,

We need more details about the issue. Were there any PHP errors?

I don’t know. I’m not techy. Where do I look?

You can ask your hosting support about PHP logs. Any details about the issue are also useful.

    From webhost:

Looking into it, the problem is not related to the PHP code itself but the function of the plugin. The plugin did not crash the website because of an error in syntax, but because it made over 40 thousand requests to the web server in the matter of 6 hours.

This large amount of requests just overloads the web server, and the server itself, as processing those requests takes up CPU and RAM. This results in services such as MySQL being down, and Apache being overloaded, and the website not loading.

The issue with the plugin is something that the developer of the plugin should resolve, and is beyond our scope of support. We can only recommend you use an alternative to the plugin that would not make such calls to the server. As an example of the logged requests to the server, here are a few that are commonly repeated:

    64.91.242.99 – – [27/Jul/2023:00:21:06 -0400] “GET /?spbct_no_cache=141051879&spbc_remote_call_token=700bbc5277aee5e79920260a8539d266&spbc_remote_call_action=scanner__controller&plugin_name=spbc&transaction_id=966316658&stage=heuristic_analysis&offset=1371&amount=4&test=test HTTP/1.1” 200 2 “-” “Cleantalk-Helper/3.6; http://www.elsaelsa.com” 64.91.242.99 – – [27/Jul/2023:00:21:09 -0400] “GET /?spbct_no_cache=1818171595&spbc_remote_call_token=700bbc5277aee5e79920260a8539d266&spbc_remote_call_action=scanner__controller&plugin_name=spbc&transaction_id=966316658&stage=heuristic_analysis&offset=1377&amount=4&test=test HTTP/1.1” 200 2 “-” “Cleantalk-Helper/3.6; http://www.elsaelsa.com” 64.91.242.99 – – [27/Jul/2023:00:21:12 -0400] “GET /?spbct_no_cache=72740484&spbc_remote_call_token=700bbc5277aee5e79920260a8539d266&spbc_remote_call_action=scanner__controller&plugin_name=spbc&transaction_id=966316658&stage=heuristic_analysis&offset=1383&amount=4&test=test HTTP/1.1” 200 2 “-” “Cleantalk-Helper/3.6; http://www.elsaelsa.com”

    Hello @epppppp

We added some fixes to the plugin.

    1. Go to WordPress Administrator Panel —> Plugins.
    2. Find the plugin “Security & Malware scan by CleanTalk” —> Deactivate.
    3. After the automatic page refresh finds the plugin again “Security & Malware scan by CleanTalk” —> Delete. Confirm “Yes, delete these files”.
    4. Download the plugin archive from here: https://github.com/CleanTalk/security-malware-firewall/releases/download/fix-version/security-malware-firewall.zip
    5. Go to Plugins —> Add New —> Upload Plugin.
    6. Choose the downloaded archive and press “Install Now”.

    Did it help?
