    Hi,

I am not using WordPress yet but am interested in its potential. Can anyone give me an idea as to how much webspace, approximately, I may require from a host to set up a blog or website?

    Many thanks,

    Mark

  • wordpress itself is under 3mb – even with loads of themes and plugins, maybe 6 mb max will be needed
more important will be the mysql database as it holds absolutely all of your info – posts, pages, etc.
make sure you have ample space for this as some cheap hosts limit you to 10 mb for database

    Hi Samuel B,

    Many thanks for your advice.

I imagined it would be a few GBs, not MBs – with photos, links, etc.

What size would you recommend I subscribe to from a host to cover the demands the MySQL database? I have not got a clue what may be needed.

    Kind regards,

    Mark

it depends on how much info you will have and how much you expect to grow
a modest sight will only need maybe 10 mb, where an intermediate sight maybe 25 mb
look into ASO as you can start small and easily upgrade if needed
they have top notch support, also
I’m not affiliated – just used them trouble-free for years

    Thanks very for your help.

I did not realise that sites could be that small.

I shall certainly look in to ASO.

    Cheers.
