Web site gone, freaked out

Hi, I’m more than a bit worried, my longtime book selling website has gone away sometime recently. Ive just been able to get into the control area to see whats going on but I dont see anything that would stop it being visible on the www. I came to WP via host gator, and those accounts are up to date.
Any thoughts much appreciated,

-do you have a backup copy of database and files?
-what was the last thing that was changed on your website? (update plugin, add new plugin, change theme, update theme, update WordPress version etc)
-are you able to get into the WP-Admin dashboard area or the cPanel area of Hostgator?
-can you access the database that contains your content in HostGator area PHPMYADMIN?
