  • Hi, I just started my Word Press blog a few days ago, so I believe it’s probably the latest version. I am having a problem getting the site to recognize hyperlinks, either those that users post, or my own. I turned the rich text editor off; it didn’t help. I tried to manually change some entries, e.g. but then the link disappeared when post was published.

    It seems the only way I can do it is through the “link” function, but users don’t have access to that, and some of the web addresses are too long for me to manually type in each time.

    Help would be appreciated!

  • Okay, it did it above as well. My e.g. was

    </p> < a href= “http://www.wikipedia.org”

    Jane, I’m thinking there’s something wrong with the way you’re coding the links. And what looks like a link in your first post above apparently isn’t.

    The coding for a link is this:

    <a href="http://somesite.com">some text</a>

    That said, if the rich-text editor is converting your code, then you’d get this, which is not a link (although the forum software is converting the code to a left angle bracket, but you get the idea):

    <a href=&quot;http://somesite.com&quot;&rt;some text</a&rt;

    I believe there are a couple of areas to turn off the rich text editor in your control panel (and you have to do both); I know that one’s in Options.

    Don’t know what may be causing problems with users; are you referring to people leaving comments?
