• Hello wordpressland.

I have quite a few wordpress sites on the same host. My largest site, busier site, and site that also has widgets, seems to load at a tolerable speed.

My newest site, http://northshorevoices.com, is kind of an “app” for myself I built out of widgets and plugins. They’re kind of the whole point of the thing. My host says it loads very slow because of them. I don’t doubt that the widgets are slowing it down some, but I think some of the blame should go to the host.

Anyway, I want to speed up what I do in fact have control over before I complain to the host again, and even speed up my other sites.

My host says a “wordpress” expert can fix this. Hm. They offer no other clue. Nor, do I have any, which is why I’m sharing this issue with the greater community.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. It might even be for a better-made version of one of the plugins I’m using.

As you yourself admit, if the widgets are slowing down the site, you should remove them. As to the second part of your statement, if some of the blame has to go to the host, either take up the issue with them, or change to a better host.
