Web Design Help - Gaming Community (7 posts)

I'm currently redesigning my gaming communities website. I will be using the newest releases of both WordPress and bbPress with this design and I had a few questions on some functionality I would like to utilize for the site to operate smoothly and effectively:

1.) I would like to setup an application form that when someone who is interested in joining the group fills it out and submits it, it creates a new post in a pre-defined forum on the bbPress site. If it is plausible, I would like it to be posted in a Private forum with a certain username that would be only used for this purpose. (ex: RecruitBOT, AppBOT, etc)

This feature would make the site an invaluable tool for the community. Since WP and bbP are so closely related, I wonder how difficult this would be? I know it is possible with vBulletin.

2.) I would like to have a special section of the website that is only seen by the registered users of the site that I declare are members of the actual community. This would also be a great tool for our needs as it would have links to other hidden pages that would cover FAQs, Donation Info, etc. Basically a "Member's Only Area" of the site with tools and information for my members.

What I would like to do is customize the login design so it is simply the two fields (username and password) as well as certain links when logged in and logged out. For example:

Logged in as normal registered user: Logout, Private Messages, Profile
Logged in as member of community: Member Only Area (with it's own hidden sub-pages, etc), Logout, PMs, Profile
Logged out: User name and password fields, Register, Forgot Password

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated as I am a self-taught coder and primarily just a designer. Thank you very much for any and all input!

    That's right! A second bump!

I'm done for now. Sorry to be pushy but I really need these two features for the site to work as intended and be such a powerful tool for the community.

Alright... back to work for me!

Are these really features that are unattainable or do people just not know?

What application are you using right now? i.e. is this a migration to WordPress?

bbPress and WordPress - integration plugin

What you want to do can be done in different ways using different plugins and custom scripts, some paid, some free.

Also, have you looked into BuddyPress plugin for WordPress for a community solution? Stable version BP 1.1.3 works only with WPMU, but BP trunk version now works with single WordPress installations.

Do you know any of plugins that can restrict posts to be viewed by registered users only without using password-protected posts? Will bbPress or BuddyPress do that?
