[Resolved] Web Access to self hosted IIS server

  • I am running a MS-IIS server (Win2K) that runs many sites fine. I installed WordPress and it runs fine on the server (both admin page and blog site). If I try to access the blog site from any other computer in the domain, or the Internet for that matter, I am presented with a Windows Authentication login screen. My domain login works and gives me access but I want this blog to be accessed from the web by anonymous users.
I have played with permissions on the site and files until my eyes fell out. I give up. What am I not doing?

  • Is your installation of WP running off a locally installed web server? I.e. is it localhost?

The IIS server hosted sites are accessed from the web. Only when the index.php is accessed does it prompt for credentials.

it IS a local installation of IIS, yes.

Problem solved! It was the PHP install on IIS that was holding me up. After reading the PHP manual install steps for MS IIS I was able to correct my security issue. I also did a few other suggested steps and everything is working great. I highly recommend reading the manual installation steps thoroughly if you plan on installing PHP on an MS IIS box.
