• I have installed Weather Station, connected to OpenWeatherMap with an API key, chose the location for which I want to display weather. I chose to display the date and time along with various weather parameters. The date displays correctly, but the hour/minute display is not correct – off by five hours. I have looked at all the time settings throughout my website and all seem to be correct. This occurs on Chrome, Safari and Firefox. Please advise how I might correct this information.

  • HELLO !

Could you say me for which control you have this problem (a widget, a live control, a textual value)?

If it’s a widget, it displays the local time of the station. And the timezone is set when creating/modifying the station.

If it’s not in a widget the question maybe more tricky. Could you say me which value you’re trying to render (Measure Timestamp or timestamped value like Last Seen or Last Refresh)?

It is the Weather Station plugin installed as a widget in a sidebar. I selected two stations: Tucson, Arizona and Green Valley, Arizona. The correct time zone (US Phoenix) was selected for the two stations. It is supposed to show the current time when the page is loaded.

When opening the widget in the Sidebar settings, various weather data can be selected. Below that is entered the “Display Name” (Green Valley, Arizona) and below that is a “Subtitle to Display”. This is a drop-down box. The choices are Nothing, Date and Time of Records, and Station Coordinates. I chose Date and Time of Records. The date appears correctly, but the time is off.

    Hello klstrand!

That’s strange… When you post an article on your blog, is the date and time ok? Could you provide me a link where I can see the problem?

    Thanks

I do not have a blog page on the site, and the site is still under construction so not live yet. Would a screen print help?

    Hello.
Unfortunatly, a screenshot will not help me…
So we will do it step by step. First step: could you confirm me the date and time of your server is OK? To verify that, go to Settings > General and see if timezone and date/time samples are corrects. Especially, could you verify the string “Universal time (UTC) is XXXXXXXX. Local time is XXXXXXXXX.” is ok?

    Thanks

UTC is 17:23:38 PM; local time is 9:23:38 AM (I am Pacific Time Zone) – an 8-hour difference.

If it’s ok WordPress side, it’s something in Weather Station settings.
To test it, I’ve set your 2 stations on my dev site and all seems OK. Could just take a look on it : http://wp-dev.lannoy.fr/ (that’s the 2 side bars) and say me if on my site all is OK for you…

Yes, the time and date is displaying correctly on your site when I click on the link in your post. The current Weather Station setting on my site says its running in extended mode. Would running in simplified mode make a difference?

So, second step: when you go in the station view (Weather Station / Stations and click on a station), you have a module with type “Main Base”. Just bellow the type, you have a small “refresh” icon and just after, a date and time. Could you give me the whole string (it’s like “November 27, 2016, 6:02 am (7 mins ago)”? Is this string ok, or is there the same time difference than in the widget?

    Thanks
    Pierre

When I select WeatherStation/Stations and click on the Green Valley station, I get what appears to be several different modules. In one of them there is an item that says “Base Station”. Below that it shows a refresh button and next to that is the date and time as follows: 11/27/2016, 3:47 AM (1 min ago). It doesn’t do anything when I hit refresh – it’s as if it isn’t active. The “1 min ago” is grayed out. The time is clearly incorrect. Other modules say “Computed Values”, “Ephemeris”, “Open Weather Map Records”. All show date and time the same as the Base Station section.

    Hello klstrand!
Today, I spent several hours to try to reproduce your issue on one of my server. And I’m sorry: I have to say that I’ve absolutely no idea on how your server can do that. Not the slightest idea…

Is there something strange in the events log of Weather Station?
Have you access to your php log files? If yes, is there a warning you could see?
Have you activated the “debug mode” of WordPress? If yes have you seen warning? If no, could you try to activate it?

I am so sorry that this has taken so much of your time. Nothing in the events log indicates what might be wrong. I ran the debug mode which generated a bug with a different app but not yours. I deleted the app, re-installed it and set up the weather station again – even tried a different time zone. Nothing fixes the issue. For now I have chosen to omit the date/time display as I am at a loss about what else might be causing the problem. Thank you so much for your help – I did learn much from the processes you had me try.

    Hello klstrand!
This will remain for me the most intriguing problem I have ever seen with this plugin… It is likely that this comes from a special configuration of the server, but in fact I have no certainty!
So, I don’t close this support request until this issue disapears, be canceled by a server update or by Weather Station update (who knows?) or something else.

Again, sorry for this and thank you for your patience. Don’t hesitate to keep me informed if there’s something new.

    Best regards
    Pierre

    Hello Klstrand.

I come back to you regarding your issue because Brad-NZ has the same (https://wordpress.org/support/topic/time-out-by-1-hour/). When investigating, he found that he’s using a bugged plugin which is named “Opening Hours”. Are-you using the same? If it’s the case, maybe could you deactivate it temporarily to verify?

    Thanks
    Pierre

Thanks for following up on this, Pierre. I am not using the “Opening Hours” plugin.
