• Of late on one site, we keep getting file change warnings, frequently, every other day.
A file (or files) on your site have been changed. Please review the report below to verify changes are not the result of a compromise.
    191 added – 11 removed.
    wp-content/et-divi-dynamic-late-m0yzIC.tmp
    wp-content/et-divi-dynamic-37-late-7lnKDt.tmp
    plus dozens of others.

Is there a reason for this, they look like temp files, why bother reporting is there anything problematic with this? Can I stop this particular filetype being reported on?
    Thanks in advance.

    Another 200 files this a.m.

I could turn it off as it’s annoying, but that will be the day I need it.
Would like to understand why it selects .tmp files to report on though, 2 out of the 200 were .css, but included in the path was dynamic.
tmp files in this format as usual
    et-divi-dynamic-late-VPyaYx.tmp

Simply add .tmp to the File Change Ignore File Types setting. The setting already includes a long list of file extensions to exclude from scanning. Strange .tmp isn’t included by default.

+++++ To prevent any confusion, I’m not iThemes +++++

In the right direction thanks, however I cannot find the required syntax to ignore .tmp despite trying several variants.

Update, In the wp-content folder are several hundred .tmp files. If I click one then hit select, it adds that file name to the excluded Files and Folders panel.
If I hit SAVE then I get this error
A validation function for file-change received data that has an entry for notify_admin when no such entry exists.
    .types should be array

I can see no way to bulk select ALL the tmp files to that window and despite regex variants, I cannot add .tmp to Ignore File Types panel either.

I don’t understand why I keep getting file change warnings on .tmp file changes that cannot be ignored, and do not report this on other similar WP sites.

Aaaaaaargh. Surely SOMEONE has seen this? I am getting a note every day for .tmp files that have changed.
I cannot stop them. Has ANYONE got any ideas on this.
NO other site configured in the same way posts me every day saying that .tmp files have changed.

Hey! Have you found what’s generating the files??

We have the same issue. Our site went down because we had more than 250,000(!!!) files. Found the files in wp-content/uploads. All named similiar to this:
    et-divi-dynamic-15144-late-lM4AQb.tmp

Have begun manually deleting the files which brought our site back up. BUT still not sure where these are coming from. Need to fix the source issue.

No answer for this, the plug in would appear to have the same settings on all our maintained sites. Only this one flags/reports changes to TMP files.

I had one practical answer to this above, but no detail as to how it was achieved.

This problem is affecting us too. We’ve hit the 250,000 maximum.

Divi said the latest update has fixed it but it hasnt. they are blaming TSO host for not automatically deleting these files, TSO Host are saying it is Divi’s problem.

I think I worked it out to around 400 hours needed to delete the files manually. The uploads folder is so clogged it wont load properly. The latest help from TSO host is that they will try and delete the files for me. But I saw that several hundred have been added again today.

I have sent another moaning support mail to Elegant themes to fix the problem.

Did anyone get any joy in fixing this yet?

    Update:

From Divi version 4.14.1 the problem has been fixed. So the files arent being created anymore.

However, you may need to get rid of the existing ones. It isn’t likely you can do it through file manager. Through the cpanel the file manager is too clunky and through ftp software the folder wouldnt even load as it was too populated. I am with TSO Host and they suggested SSH – a bit nervous, as I am not that tecky. But i had played with command prompt a few times before so changed directory to the uploads folder and TSO and they gave me some SSH code to find and remove the files.

It took about 7 minutes to remove them but they have gone! Yeh.

    215,000 files. 215,000!!!!!!! Wow.

I am back to just 15% files usage and the website is still working.

So speak to your host, authorize SSH access and download ‘Putty’. Some good youtube vids out there on how to do it all.
