• I just installed theme.co’s X theme with no problems, however when I try to install child theme after extracting the zip file in themes it gave me this error.

Warning: An unexpected error occurred. Something may be wrong with WordPress.org or this server’s configuration. If you continue to have problems, please try the support forums. (WordPress could not establish a secure connection to WordPress.org. Please contact your server administrator.) in /home/tarve872/public_html/thevegansandwich.com/wp-includes/update.php on line 119

I am not sure what to do from this point or why the error occurred. I followed the video demonstration exactly and I got the error. Any help thank you.

PS. When I go to themes the X renew stack seems to be working. I am not sure what if it is working or not???

    Hi,

If you see this error appearing frequently, it usually related to your hosts cURL SSL library being out of date. Ask your host to update this and you should be good.

could this also be the reason behind my WP plugins, themes and everything else not being able to connect to anything outside of my WP?
I am unable to get updates
It won’t send any info to wordpress.com or org, or google analytics, jetpack, etc.
It says it’s got the most updated WP but it’s 4.0, not 4.1 I can’t upload 4.1 because it doesn’t allow me the option since it already thinks it has the latest version.
I’ve called my host (Yahoo) and they say they see no issue. I haven’t asked specifically about the cURL SSL library yet though.
    Thanks,
    M

    Hi,

It could very well be, if the connection is unable to verify the SSL details, the connection will fail and you won’t be getting the version details etc.
