Support » Fixing WordPress » Want two blogs in two columns on home page, don’t care how

  • WP 3.0 on a hosted server, running a 3-column theme. I can install as many instances of WP as I like, but I apparently cannot use Multisite.

I want my left-hand column to display posts from a primary blog, and the second column to display posts from a second blog. Both of them are my content. (The left-hand space is for essays; the second column is for shorter posts and links to other media.)

I’ve tried using RSS to pull the full text from another WP instance and from Tumblr, but KB Advanced RSS strips out HTML before reposting.

I figure this has to be easier than I think it is — but I can’t figure out where to start looking.

  • In order to activate Multisite on your website, visit: /wp-admin/network.php. You will have to manually add network.php to your browser’s address bar, until Multisite is enabled. Then follow the directions on that page. This will allow you to have multiple instances of WordPress with only one install. Each instance of WordPress will have to have it’s own homepage, but you can use Multisite functions to gather posts from each instance and display it on the home page or whatever page you like.

Are you trying to pull posts from one WordPress database or from multiple programs or from multiple sites? Multisite allows you to have a website like, multiple blogs, but only one install of the software. If your going to have a variety of software, your going to need to use some method like RSS (xml) pulling.
