Support » Theme: Customizr » Want to make links of parent menu items with dropsdowns active

  • Has anyone figured out how to make the top level menu links, which have submenus, direct to their respective pages? As soon as add a submenu to a parent menu item in Appearance > Menus, the link of the parent menu no longer works. I know this is designed into bootstrap.

I found this thread for a different theme which might have my solution. However the solutions presented within are a bit vague. I’m not exactly sure which file to place the code found in the last response of this thread.

If anyone knows where to put this code or has found a solution to making links with submenus clickable, I’d greatly appreciate it. Thank you in advance.

  • There are ways to do this, I’m sure, but are you sure you really want to? If you allow click-through on the top level of the menu, how is a touch-screen user ever going to see the drop-down submenus?

I’m typing this from an iPhone–case in point 🙂

I would like to be able to do it for larger browser sizes (non-mobile). I understand that the purpose of this functionality is for mobile use, which makes perfect sense. But I figured there has got to be some workaround using jQuery or js which would toggle between desktop and mobile mode.

If it’s a simple solution, I’d use it. If it’s more complicated and don’t feel the time spent to implement is worth it, I can certainly live with the original functionality.

Have you seen the links that Nikeo gave here. Could be useful to you.

I followed the solution proposed by acub & ElectricFeet here:

It seems to work fine for me: I tried on iphone and ipad and the drop-downmenus are perfectly accessible when touch-surfing.
