Want to change my blog into an e-commerce site (4 posts)

I have a blog on the WP.com side. I would like to retain the domain name and convert the blog into an e-commerce site. I've set up the "One Click" hosting with DreamHost. And I've purchased a W.P. e-commerce theme.

I find I'm unable to simply go to the Dashboard and activate my purchased theme. I understand that this is related to a problem between the .com and .org sides of WordPress?????

What's the key final step in getting my new theme to work on an account which has been formatted for a blog?

    Thanks in advance,
    John

WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different things.

    This may help: http://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-properly-move-your-blog-from-wordpress-com-to-wordpress-org/

    Thanks G.F.

That was a big help and I followed the steps outlined there. But now that everything has been transferred over to the remote server, how do I light the fire? Where do I go to start chopping, swapping and dropping pieces of my new theme to build my new site?

So far I'm only able to get back to my old Dashboard page at WP.com. I'm not able to find any similar functionality here at WP.org. There's something big and simple which I'm just not understanding. What is it?

Thanks again for the earlier link, though. It helped me move the process forward.

I'm not sure but maybe others can help. Have you tried any resources at wordpress.com?
