want move to WP, leaving joomla cause of SEO, help

  • Hi guys, i have been developing sites in Jooomla, but i got hired to build a site with good Google ranking. And went to a SEO congress this weekend and everyone trashed Joomla but praised WP. I have been building sites in joomla since a long time but made only two blogs with WP.

Seeing this i want to develop the site i talked about on WP for better SEO reasons, but the main question is. WP has been positioned as a blog tool, not really for sites. Does WP have a lot of free plugins, like private area for registered user, flash galleries, calendar for event registrations, if not free, if sold are they expensive. Give me some tips please guys, cause i dont want to build a blog but an entire site,
    thanx in advance
    andres

  • wordpress has a lot of plugins in the repository
and also a lot of themes

you can google for just about anything you need and find someone has made a wordpress plugin for it

also, now days a lot of people use wordpress as a cms – with static pages – to drive their site
