Want full post on homepage, not summary

Hi, I am trying to make my posts look a certain way on my homepage. I am using the theme pinboard. I don’t like how the summary posts (which come with the theme) are formatted (the title is below the picture and the picture is too big) so I have been trying to get the full post to show on my homepage instead (then I can just turn it into a summary with the ‘more’ tag within each post). I already tried changing ‘<?php the_excerpt(); ?< to <?php the_content(); ?< ‘which added the full post to my homepage, but it didn’t replace the summary. now it is posting each post twice.

There are a few things that I could do that would solve my problem:
1. get rid of the summary post on the homepage (keep the full posts)

2. get rid of the full posts and change the summary post so the title is above the picture and the picture is smaller.
