Support » Plugin: Socialize » Want "Alert Box" but Not the "Inline Social Buttons"

  • How to? If I untick all the “Show/Hide Inline Buttons” in “Socialize: Display Settings”, the “Call to Action” box disappears too. I want the box but not the buttons I have an other solution for that.
“Default Button Setup” under “Socialize: Button Settings” seems to have no effect either. Help!

The default button settings have no effect on posts that were saved since the plugin was installed. All the button data is included in the post meta. If you remove the post meta, that post will revert back to the default settings.

The second way you tried should work. Just make sure the posts in question don’t have custom post meta for the socialize buttons.

    Hi Jon,
Great plugin! Thanks for the quick reply.
How do I edit the post meta? I only see a stylesheet & javascript when I go to View/Page Source in Firefox.

OK, scratch that. Here’s the important bit in more detail.
I want the buttons on the Front Page but not in the individual posts, PLUS the Alert Box under the individual posts.

It seems however, that if I untick “Posts” under “Show/Hide Inline Buttons” on the “Socialize: Display Settings” page, the Alert Boxes disappear too.

I’ve tried leaving it checked, and unchecking the “Inline buttons” in the individual posts, but then the buttons disappear from the Front Page too.

I’ve checked them again now. Better to have too many buttons than no Alert Box. 😉

What do you think is the best way to get this sorted?

ps. Am I corrent in thinking that where the inline buttons displayed is set in the plugin options, globally, and not in the individual posts?

Yes, for now you can only set the inline button position globally.

I’ll look into making the changes necessary to let you be able to do what you need. Currently you can’t display buttons inline on the front page and not on the page itself if you plan on using Call to Action boxes.

I can’t promise anything soon but I’ll definitely look into it more.

Ah, so that’s how it is. I thought I was doing something wrong. Thanks for looking into it. There may be others trying to do the same.
