Want a slideshow of images in post

    WordPress up to date? Yes
    – NextGEN up to date? Yes
    – What version of NextGEN Gallery did you upgrade from? (i.e. I had 1.9.13, then upgraded to 2.0.61) New Install

    (please confirm the following, with your server host tech) :
    – MySQL up to date (at least 5.0)? Yes
    – PHP up to date (at least 5.2.4)? Yes
    – The mod_rewrite Apache module activated? Don’t know
    – PHP Safe Mode OFF? Don’t know

    Here is the functionality that I am looking for: When I have images on my post (and I don’t do anything with galleries or albums), when you click on an image, instead of being directed to the .jpg file, you get a little slideshow popup of the image, and you can scroll thought this slideshow to view all post images.

    Under “Other Options” and “Lightbox Effects” I have selected “Try to apply to all images that link to image files” in response to “What must the lightbox be applied to?” and it seems to work some of the time. When I select that option:

    – The “No Lightbox,” “Fancybox,” “Highslide,” and “Thickbox” settings don’t seem to work. Just the image pops up and I can’t scroll through.

    – “Lightbox” is the only setting that works as expected.

    – Shutter does this, but it’s buggy. When I click on the image instead of the little arrows, it pulls up the original image I clicked on, with a fancy box format. So, if I click on the first image in my post, and scroll to image 3 of 7 through the little arrows, then when I click on image 3 instead of the arrows, the first image in the post pops up with a fancy box format.

    – Shutter 2 has a similar functionality when I scroll through and click on the button between scroll forward and scroll backward. Shutter 2 also has broken images for the scroll buttons at the bottom of the picture, but the links work.

    My questions:
    Are these bugs? Why is there such inconsistency between the behavior of the slideshow when I am really just changing the effects.

    I would like the captions to show up in the slideshow, is this possible?

    @fox2000 – The inconsistency is mostly due to the different Lightbox Effects being used; and, that option you are working with will not work with every theme (and all plugins) as is. Granted there is some trial and error in some cases but very few in the over-all installation base.

    As to a caption on the slideshow, it is not possible in NextGEN Basic Slideshow but there are options to show captions in the NextGEN Pro Slideshow if you are interested in that idea. See this site for more details: http://nextgen-gallery.com/
